Boosting Cambodia’s Agri-Tourism

Cambodia and Japan have convened a meeting to discuss the preparation of a project to promote new agri-tourism products in Cambodia.

The meeting took place on Aug. 12 via a videoconference under the chairmanship of H.E. Thong Rathasak, Director General of Tourism Development and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Tokito Hiroyuki, Second Secretary in charge of Tourism at the Embassy of Japan in Phnom Penh, and Dr. Nabeshima Katsuhito, Founder of Yamato Green Co., Ltd.

The project is expected to help restore Cambodia's tourism sector during and after the crisis of COVID-19 by boosting agri-tourism products, and green belt development.

The ministry and Yamato Green Co., Ltd. also entered an agreement to develop Cambodia's green belt in 2020, focusing on the development of tourism industry, agri-tourism, natural tourism, community tourism and eco-tourism.

Through the agreement, the ministry is preparing a pilot project on agri-tourism and green house in Baray district of Kampong Thom province, and safe crop plantation project.
