Cambodia remains the second nation in Southeast Asia to have the highest number of fully vaccinated population, after Singapore, according to reportingasean.net.

“Singapore, the leader in vaccination pace, has now fully inoculated close to two-thirds of its population. Cambodia exceeded 41 percent a few days ago. The Philippines’s coverage improved markedly from early July, as did Thailand, though it’s still at under 10 percent of people fully vaccinated. Vietnam remains at the bottom,” it said.

Compared to the early July update, it added, the number of new daily cases in Cambodia and Indonesia appear to be easing a bit, not climbing as much, or tapering off. But jumps in daily cases are seen in Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam.

In Cambodia, as of Aug. 16, for the target of 10-million adults, 8,456,216 people have obtained their first jab, or 84.56 percent, among them 7,364,522 have been fully vaccinated. In addition, 277,074 others have got a booster dose.

For the children-youth aged 12 to under 18, whose vaccination campaign began on Aug. 1, 588,333 or 29.91 percent of the two-million target have received their first dose.

As yesterday morning, Cambodia logged a total of 86,041 COVID-19 detections – of them, 81,202 have been cured and 1,704 deceased.
