The UN High-level Meeting on HIV/AIDS will kick off tonight at the UN Headquarters in New York.
The Cambodian delegation, led by Senior Minister H.E. Ieng Mouly, Chairman of the National AIDS Authority, will attend the opening session tonight via Videoconference, said Director of Cabinet of NAA, H.E. Sut Thangphann.
Besides the opening plenary meeting, ten Cambodian delegates will attend five thematic panels, including addressing the inequalities to end AIDS: 10 years to 2030, putting people and communities at the centre of the response to AIDS, resources and funding for an effective AIDS response, advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls in the AIDS response, and addressing the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the AIDS response and building back better for pandemic preparedness, he pointed out.
The Cambodia delegation will also attend the side event on Facts of Life: Youth, Sexuality and HIV which will bring together young activists, politicians and experts to discuss the sexual and reproductive health and rights of adolescents and youth, etc.
Senior officials from NAA, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and the Ministry of Health, senator, Phnom Penh deputy governor, and members of NGOs working on HIV/AIDS will be part of the delegation.
