COVID-19: Daily New Cases Recorded at 556; Tally 86,597

Cambodia registered 556 daily new cases of COVID-19; bringing the tally to 86,597, said the Ministry of Health in a press release made public this morning.

According to the source, 167 of the new infections were imported and the rest were locally transmitted cases linked to the Feb. 20 Community Event.

At the same time, it added, 716 more patients have successfully been cured while 14 others have lost their lives due to the pandemic. The total recovered cases and death toll in the Kingdom thus rose to 81,918 and 1,718, respectively.

The first COVID-19 case was detected in Cambodia in late January 2020 in Preah Sihanouk province. The confirmed cases have surged quickly this year due to the Feb. 20 community outbreak.
