COVID-19: Tally Reaches Nearly 50,000 with Detection of 723 New Cases

The total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Cambodia jumped to 49,255 with the detection of 723 new cases this morning.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Health, 98 of the new cases are imported and the rest are locally transmitted cases connected to the Feb. 20 outbreak.

The ministry also announced the recovery of 709 more patients; the total cured cases increased to 43,473.

Besides, the source added, the COVID-19 pandemic claimed 19 more lives; bringing the death toll to 575.

The first COVID-19 case was detected in Cambodia in late January 2020 in Preah Sihanouk province. The confirmed cases have surged quickly this year due to the Feb. 20 community outbreak.
