Siem Reap International Airport on Sunday served an Airbus-330 flying from Basel –Switzerland for a rest-stop and the aircraft headed to Hong Kong later on the same day.
This is a testament to the readiness of the airport’s teams and authorities to cater to their customers, said the Cambodia Airports, the developer of the three international airports in Cambodia.
Flights at the airport had slowed to a trickle since the COVID-19 outbreak last year and, with no flights around, the situation has worsened since February 2021.
“Seeing the A-330 landing and taking-off was the silver lining for the whole airport community that has been heavily impacted by the disruption of activities,” it stressed.
The airport is fully open and has deployed health safety measures for its stakeholders.
In the near coming days, almost 100 percent of its workers are expected to be fully inoculated with the COVID-19 vaccine.
