The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has granted investment licences to two private firms to invest in the construction of garment factories in Cambodia..
According to a CDC’s press release, General Enterprises Garment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd., and Sortics Alliance Co., Ltd. will invest US$7.3 million and US$5.2 million in the two projects, respectively.
The two newly-approved projects, to be located in Kandal Stung district of Kandal province, and in Samaky Meanchey district of Kampong Chhnang province, are expected to create almost 2,000 jobs for the locals, it added.
Such investment amid the COVID-19 outbreak demonstrates confidence of investors in Cambodia’s macroeconomic, political and social stability though threatened by the pandemic.
