Security and national defence sector is very fundamental for Cambodia's development and progress in all circumstances, said H.E. Nguon Nhel, Acting President of the National Assembly (NA) of Cambodia.
H.E. Nguon Nhel made the point while presiding over the opening ceremony of the 4th Meeting on Parliamentary Oversight Roles of Commissions/Committees on National Defence and Security of the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) NAs.
Taking place at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel and Residence this morning, the gathering intended to foster cooperation, peace and development at the borders of the three neighbours.
Peace, security, political stability and public order are driving factors in creating opportunities for business, investment, tourism and commerce, particularly for CLV Development Triangle Area contributing to poverty alleviation and betterment of people's living standard, continued H.E. Nguon Nhel.
The acting NA president further called on meaningful participation of legislative and executive bodies during the forum in order to enforce laws and policies toward the said objective, as well as to address crimes such as drug and human trafficking, illegal imports and exports, deforestation, money laundering, and beyond.
