Some 2.93 million tonnes of paddy rice farmed during the dry-season were harvested in the first five months of this year and 1.60 million tonnes exported, a year-on-year increase of about 751,496 tonnes compared to 2020.
The figures were shared in a report released yesterday by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
For the first five months of 2021, the dry-season rice cultivation reached 141.45 percent of the annual plan of 459,200 hectares explained the report.
Within the same period factoring in the rice exports, Cambodia shipped about 4.1 million tonnes of agricultural products to international markets – a 1.1 million increase over the same period last year.
Major markets for Cambodia’s agricultural products include China, EU, ASEAN countries, India, Japan, Korea, Russia, Australia and many other nations.
