APF Intends to Organise its Annual Session in Cambodia

The Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) is willing to hold its future annual session in Cambodia, which will be the first ever of its kind since the organisation’s creation in 1967.

The intention was made by H.E. Christophe-André FRASSA, French Senator and Chairman of the APF’s Political Commission, at a working lunch here last Friday with H.E. PRAK Sokhonn, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, during the former’s mission to the Kingdom of Cambodia, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation AKP received this morning.

Mr. FRASSA also suggested an official collaboration between the APF and the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

The two proposals will be studied carefully and acted upon by the Cambodian side, the release said, affirming that in the event of official confirmation by the authorities of ASEAN-AIPA and the Cambodian authorities, they will be received favourably by the APF.

On the occasion, H.E. PRAK Sokhonn recalled the deep ties of friendship between Cambodia and the institutions of La Francophonie. He highlighted the large number of French-speaking ministers within the Royal Government and was praised by his guest for Cambodia’s deep and sincere involvement in this great APF family during its gatherings.
