Banteay Kdei Archeological Excavation Successfully Concluded

APSARA Authority has successfully concluded the archeological excavation at Bateay Kdei temple complex in Siem Reap � an effort to understand the development and connection of the temple structures.

The update was shared in a recent press release from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, highlighting that the excavation lasted from August 10 to 21.

The exercise, added the source, was done in cooperation with Sophia University in Japan and partly intended to allow hands-on practice to the archeology and architecture students there.

As quoted in the release, a researcher at Sophia University Mr. Nhim Sotheavin said that the excavation was a verification of discoveries in related areas in 1995 and 1996 and earlier in 2019.

APSARA Authority and the university, he continued, planned another verifying archeological excavation next year.

Series of excavations have allowed better understanding of development and connection temple structures at various archeological sites.
