Cambodia, along with three other ASEAN nations, is pushing strategic tourism cooperation in the southern part of the region seeing its potential as a powerful stimulus for economic growth.
H.E. Thong Rathsak, Director General of Tourism Development and International Cooperation at Cambodia's tourism ministry, is leading the Kingdom's delegation to attend the cooperation discussion in Can Tho city of Vietnam.
Sixth of its kind, the gathering is attended by government delegations from Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, and the private sector and other concerned stakeholders from the four participating countries.
The meeting allows sharing of tourism products and services, connectable package tours by private sector from the four ASEAN countries and beyond in order to promote effective, responsible, and sustainable tourism in the area.
It discussed a joint tourism market promotion, further advancement of tourism products, related human resource development, diversification of package tour, and tour connection among the countries.
All are positive that the existence of strategic tourism facilitation in the southern part of the region will not only meet with the global trend in the industry, but also contribute essentially to economic growth and social development in member countries.
According to Cambodia's Ministry of Tourism, the move is well aligned with the Kingdom's Tourism Development Strategic Plan 2012-2020.
