Cambodia and the Philippines will continue their cooperation on labour, according to the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.
The commitment was made during the farewell meeting between H.E. Ith Samheng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training and outgoing Ambassador of the Philippines to Cambodia H.E. Christopher B. Montero, in Phnom Penh on May 9.
Under the bilateral cooperation signed in December 2017, both nations pledged to provide mutual protection for their migrant workers through their consulates or embassyies, i.e. if Cambodia has a consulate or embassy in a particular country, but the Philippines does not have so, Cambodia can help providing different services for the Filipino migrant workers there, and vice-versa.
H.E. Ith Samheng took the opportunity to request the Philippine side to encourage Filipino workers in Cambodia to apply for a work permit and to form a bilateral cooperation on education, technical and vocational training.
