Cambodia Attends 33rd AFTA Council Meeting and Related Meetings in Thailand

Cambodian delegation led by H.E. Vongsey Vissoth, Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, has attended the 33rd ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA) Council Meeting in Thailand.

Taking place on September 6 in Bangkok, the meeting was organised to coincide with the 51st ASEAN Economic Ministers' Meeting and sideline meetings from September 3 to 10.

In the meeting, representatives from all ASEAN free trade areas spoke highly of progress of regional economic integrity under the framework of ASEAN Economic Community Blueprint 2025 through ASEAN customs tax liberalisation and ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreements (ATIGA).

They also discussed on challenges and solutions for implementation of ATIGA such as trade facilitation, goods original rule, customs tax liberalisation, trade barrier elimination, customs integrity and beyond.

The meeting also approved key documents for ASEAN member countries to implement and review including ASEAN Wide Self-Certification and ATIGA.
