Cambodia and Australia have been committed to further strengthen their cooperation in the military sector.
The commitment was the spirit of the bilateral meeting on Oct. 4 between Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, and Lt. Gen. Simon Stuart, Chief of Army of Australia, on the sidelines of the Land Forces International Land Defense Exhibition in Brisbane of Queensland, Australia.
Both sides agreed to tighten the relations between the two countries’ armies, in particular their cooperation in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR).
Lt. Gen. Hun Manet thanked the Government and people of Australia for their support to Cambodia, especially during the period of peace seeking and national reconstruction.
At the request of his Australian counterpart, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet shared the measures taken by the Royal Government of Cambodia as well as mechanisms at the national level and the participation of the armed forces in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 spread.
Following on the same day, Lt. Gen. Hun Manet also met with Maj. Gen. John Boswell, Chief of New Zealand Army.
