Cambodia Confirms 12 New COVID-19 Cases

Cambodian Ministry of Health this morning confirmed 12 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the tally to 24.

Of the 12 detected cases, 11 were among the 79 Cambodian Muslims who returned from a religious event in Malaysia, and the other one is a Cambodian man from Thailand, pointed out the ministry in a press statement.

Two of the 12 new cases were found in Banteay Meanchey province, 2 in Phnom Penh capital, 2 in Kampong Chhnang province, 4 in Battambang province, and a case each in Kampot and Thbong Khmum provinces, it added.

In terms of nationalities, among the 24 cases of confirmed COVID-19 infection in Cambodia, there are 16 Cambodians, 3 British, 2 French, a Canadian, a Belgian, and a Chinese who has already recovered.

All confirmed cases in Cambodia are imported cases, except the one in Siem Reap who was in direct contact with a Japanese infected man, underlined the Ministry of Health.

According to World Health Organisation, there are now 168.019 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 6,610 fatal cases in 148 countries and territories.
