Cambodia and France have discussed cooperation in combatting falsified and substandard medical products and counterfeit products which are seriously harmful to health and social safety and pose a risk to families, communities and society.
The discussion took place at the French Embassy in Phnom Penh on July 29. The Cambodian side was headed by H.E. Meach Sophanna, President of the Counter Counterfeit Committee, while the French side was led by H.E. Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh, Ambassador of France to Cambodia.
According to the Counter Counterfeit Committee, hundreds of tonnes of falsified, substandard and counterfeit products, including drugs, food and beverages, cosmetics, perfume, and so on have so far been seized and destroyed.
Recently, at the time when Cambodia is facing the COVID-19 pandemic, the committee has cracked down on cases of counterfeit medical equipment trafficking, including facemasks, hand sanitizers, antiseptics, etc. which had no quality certification and legal approval from the competent ministry.
