Cambodia is hosting a training course for ASEAN and regional level mine clearance trainers, according to local media report.
Taking place from Mar. 9 to 27 at Phnom Srouch Training Centre for Multinational Peacekeeping Forces in Kampong Speu province, the training course was conducted by military professors from the national centre.
Military resources from France, India, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal, Bangladesh, the Philippines also joined the course.
Addressing the opening of training course last week, H.E. Lieutenant General Sem Sovanny, Director General of the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces, Mines and ERW Clearance, underlined that the training includes both the theories and practices.
It, continued the director general, reflects engagement of countries in ASEAN and the region in the UN’s peacekeeping missions.
This event is a good opportunity for trainees to get knowledge and experience, which is helpful for their skills, especially in relation to clearance, he added.
This is the fourth time that Cambodia hosts such capacity building session.
