Cambodia, Japan Trade Increases by 16 Percent

The Bilateral trade between Cambodia and Japan amounted to US$1,048 million in the first half this year, up 16.8 percent compared the same period last year.

The figure was highlighted in a recent report from Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), adding that Cambodia's total export to Japan during the period was valued at US$792 million, 12 percent increase compared to last year.

Cambodia's total import from Japan increased by 34 percent to US$256 million, continued the report.

According to the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce, most Cambodian exports were garment and footwear products and electronic components such as mobile phone batteries.

Japan's major imports to Cambodia include machinery, cars and electronic device, beef, steel and pharmaceutical products.

Last year, Cambodia exported more than US$1.6 billion worth of goods to Japan, and brought in about US$421 million of Japanese goods.
