Cambodia Mulls Release of International Driver’s Licences and the Licences for Disabled People

Cambodia is planning to issue international driver’s licences and driver’s licences for people with disabilities this July or next month.

The planning was shared by Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol in a meeting to review the road safety work during the first half of 2020 and set forth new objectives for the second half here in Phnom Penh recently.

H.E. Sun Chanthol continued that presently, Cambodian driver’s licences cannot be used abroad so the availability of the international driver’s licences will ease Cambodians when driving in foreign countries.

It is possible for Cambodia to issue driver’s licences recognised internationally, because Cambodia is a UN’s member country, explained the minister, adding that Cambodians with current driver’s licences can get it updated into temporary international licences categories A, B or C.

In the meantime, the Royal Government of Cambodia in collaboration with Grab will also produce driver’s licences for people with disabilities in order to further promote their accesses.
