Cambodia, Pakistan to Strengthen Military Cooperation

Gen. Ith Sarath, Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Chief of Joint Staff of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF), held talks here yesterday with visiting Lt. Gen. Mohammad Chiragh Haider, Chief of Staff of the General Command Headquarters of Pakistan.

Lt. Gen. Mohammad Chiragh Haider is leading a Pakistani military delegation for an official and friendly visit in Cambodia from Oct. 7 to 10 to strengthen and expand cooperation, solidarity and friendship between both countries' armies.

Gen. Ith Sarath, on behalf of the leadership of the Ministry of National Defence, expressed warm welcome to the visit of the Pakistani delegation, stressing that it will contribute importantly to tightening the cooperation, solidarity and friendship between the two armies.

Countries in the region and around the world have been facing many challenges, including terrorism, and Cambodia, even though it is not a victim, is ready to fight against terrorism acts, said Gen. Ith Sarath.

Taking this opportunity, Gen. Ith Sarath proposed to the Pakistani side to continue providing training courses for Cambodian army personnel in Pakistan.

For his part, Lt. Gen. Mohammad Chiragh Haider deeply thanked the Cambodian side for the warm hospitality. He also pledged to forward the RCAF's proposition to Pakistan's Ministry of Defence.

The senior Pakistani military officer invited Gen. Ith Sarath for a visit to his country in an appropriate time to further promote the relations between the two countries, especially between their armies.
