AKP Phnom Penh, Cambodia and the Philippines have pledged to further boost collaboration on labour both within bilateral and ASEAN frameworks.
The pledge was made in a meeting between H.E. Ith Samheng, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training and H.E. Maria Amelita C. Aquino, newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Philippines to Cambodia here in Phnom Penh recently.
H.E. Ith Samheng spoke highly of the good cooperation between the two countries in all sectors, especially in the fields of social security and labour so far.
The minister recalled that through the visit of the Philippines’ president in 2016, Cambodia and the Philippines reached many agreements and joint statements focusing on the mutual support in solving problems and protection of people in particular migrant workers of the two nations.
H.E. Maria Amelita C. Aquino promised to further continue the good cooperation between the two countries during her diplomatic missions in the Kingdom.
She also thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for the facilitation, protection and provision of benefits to Filipino workers through the membership of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
The two sides also hoped to speed up a draft MoU on the bilateral cooperation on the technical and vocational education and training (TVET) as soon as possible.
