Cambodia Requests Sweden’s Demining Assistance

Royal Government of Cambodia has requested Sweden to continue supporting the Kingdom with demining activities.

The request was discussed during a recent meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn and Swedish Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Bjorn Haggmark at the ministry here in Phnom Penh.

H.E. Koy Koung, a spokesperson at the ministry, reported the result of the meeting explaining that Sweden used to support Cambodia with demining activities, but the assistance was suspended.

According to the spokesperson, H.E. Prak Sokhonn warmly welcomed and thanked H.E. Bjorn Haggmark for all Sweden's assistances for Cambodia by far, particularly in the areas of governance, education, human rights, demining activities, and Khmer Rouge Tribunal.

From his end, Swedish ambassador expressed his appreciation of his mission in Cambodia and shared his 2020-2024 strategic cooperation plan with the foreign affairs minister, continued H.E. Koy Koung.

The Swedish diplomat also spoke highly of Cambodia for sending peacekeepers under the United Nations mission to other countries.
