Cambodia, S. Korea Collaborate in Boosting Digital Government

The Cambodian Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC) in cooperation with the Korean Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) organised in hybrid format the Cambodia-Korea Digital Government Forum in Phnom Penh on Sept. 5.

The event was presided over by H.E. Chea Vandeth, Minister of MPTC, and visiting H.E. Chang-Seob Han, Vice Minister of MOIS, with the participation of senior officials from relevant ministries and institutions, sub-national administrations, and representatives of telecom operators, IT companies, civil society organisations and key development partners.

Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Chea Vandeth highlighted the Cambodia Digital Government Policy 2022-2035 focusing on the vision of “Establishing digital government to improve the people’s quality of life and build trust among the people through better public service provision”.

To achieve the policy, four strategic goals – Promote the development of digital government infrastructure, Build digital governance and create digital public services, Digital capacity building and innovation, and Promote cooperation and partnership between public and private sectors – have been set, he added.

The Cambodia-Korea Digital Government Forum was aimed to present the progress of Cambodian digital government as well as to share knowledge, experience and excellence of the Korean digital government with ministries and institutions, private sector and civil society organisations in Cambodia in line with the Cambodia Digital Government Policy 2022-2035.

On the sidelines of the forum, H.E. Chea Vandeth and H.E. Chang-Seob Han held a bilateral meeting, during which both ministries were committed to further strengthen their bilateral cooperation for the interest of the two countries.

H.E. Chea Vandeth asked the Korean government to continue to support Cambodia on digital partnership and digital adoption through community digital centre project, while H.E. Chang-Seob Han pledged to bring the request for discussion with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea.
