Cambodia Speaks Highly of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership Vision 2030

Cambodia highly values the ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership Vision 2030 reflecting the joint commitment of the ASEAN and Chinese leaders to cooperate in deepening their partnership on the three pillars - political and security, economic, and socio-cultural cooperation.

The remarks were made by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen during the 22nd ASEAN-China Summit held in Bangkok, Thailand this morning, according to the National Television of Kampuchea (TVK)'s special report.

ASEAN and China should turn the joint vision 2030 into concrete practice for the effectiveness of partnership for shared future, stressed the Cambodian Premier.

In the meeting, the ASEAN and Chinese leaders had in-depth discussions on the progress of ASEAN-China relations in the past more than 20 years, promotion of regional connectivity, smart cities network and sustainability in all dimensions.

Both sides also agreed to designate the year 2020 as the year of ASEAN-China Cooperation on Digital Economy.

Moreover, they welcomed the continued enhancement of bilateral cooperation and were encouraged by the progress in negotiations toward achieving the Code of Conduct (COC) in the South China Sea quickly and efficiently in accordance with the timeline agreed by all the parties.

The meeting laid stress on the importance of increasing mutual trust, exercising restraint, avoiding any activities making the situation more complex, and resorting to peaceful resolutions in accordance with international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

At the end of the summit, many documents, including the Leaders' Statement on Smart City Cooperation Initiative, Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025, were adopted, issued and noted by the ASEAN-China leaders.
