Cambodian Authority Takes Legal Action Against GCG Asia Co., Ltd.

A couple has been arrested for involvement in the case of GCG Asia Co., Ltd. that had disseminated fake news using Cambodian Prime Minister’s name and pictures.

The company’s office located in Sangkat Wat Phnom, Khan Daun Penh, Phnom Penh, was temporary closed this morning.

This legal action was taken after Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, had declared to reject the information posted on the website of GCG Asia Co., Ltd.:

According to a Facebook post yesterday evening, the Cambodian Premier said GCG Asia used his name and pictures on its website announcing that he supported and will inaugurate this company on May 20, 2019.

At the same time, this company affirmed that the National Bank of Cambodia and the Bank of China (branches) in Cambodia are its partners for Crypto Currency.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen said based on the information from the Embassy of Indonesia in Cambodia, GCG Asia is a blacklist company.

“As the Prime Minister of Cambodia, I would like to deny the information posted on this company’s website,” said Samdech Techo Hun Sen, calling on the competent authorities to conduct an investigation into this case and all businessmen and people to be careful of unlicensed Crypto Currency trading.

Before the arrest took place, the National Bank of Cambodia also issued a warning, stressing that GCG Asia is neither in cooperation nor in association with the central bank.

“Please be warned that GCG Asia is fraudulently using National Bank of Cambodia’s logo and name on their website and social network for fraudulent purpose. The National Bank of Cambodia hereby states that the National Bank of Cambodia has never recognised or been associated with GCG Asia. We are taking legal actions against this fake news of GCG Asia and condemns this illegal act,” said the bank.
