"I was saddened to learn that more than 100,000 people were evacuated from their homes in the central Chinese province of Sichuan due to the strong floods hitting the region, and that the floods even covered for the first time, the feet of the UNESCO World Heritage Leshan Giant Buddha statue, since the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949," wrote His Majesty the King in his recent letter.

"While assuring Your Excellency of Cambodia's solidarity, I express my best wishes for the complete success of the relief measures in all the flood-hit areas," the Cambodian monarch added.
