Phnom penh: Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has sent a congratulatory message to the Muslim community on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan. 'On behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia of the 7th Legislature of the National Assembly, led by the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), my wife and I would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all Cambodian Muslims living in Cambodia and abroad, as well as to Muslim communities around the world, on the commencement of the sacred month of Ramadan, beginning on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026, in Cambodia,' the Prime Minister stated in a message posted on his social media platform this evening.
According to Agence Kampuchea Presse, Samdech Thipadei expressed his profound appreciation to the Cambodian Muslims for their contributions to maintaining peace, racial harmony, and religious coexistence, as well as for their continued trust in his leadership, in that of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, President of the Supreme Privy Council to His Majesty the King, President of the Senate, and President of the CPP, and in the CPP as a whole.
He also highlighted the contributions of Cambodian Muslims, alongside the Royal Government, in the cause of the protection of national sovereignty and territorial integrity through humanitarian activities.
Ramadan is the holy month observed by Muslim communities worldwide and is determined by the sighting of the new moon. During this period, Muslims abstain from food, drink, and other physical needs from dawn to sunset as a means of spiritual purification, self-discipline, and devotion.
