COVID-19 is a vicious disease, but fake news is much more vicious, underlined Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia is a Facebook post this morning.
“We need to join hands to combat the fake news,” continued the Cambodian Premier in response to a foreign report saying that he might be infected with COVID-19.
“A foreign TV channel has reported that I had or might have been infected with COVID-19. Now, I’m in a National Assembly session and tomorrow, I’ll leave for Battambang province and stay there until Sunday, Mar. 15, 2020,” said Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
The Prime Minister took the opportunity to re-appeal to his compatriots to take part in preventing the spread of COVID-19 through hygiene measures starting from each individual, each family, each village so as to ensure that Cambodia has no more COVID-19 cases.
Cambodia has now five confirmed cases of COVID-19 – a 38-year-old Cambodian man who is now under quarantine at Siem Reap provincial referral hospital and whose health condition is good; a 60-year-old Chinese tourist, who has been successfully cured and has returned to his home country; and three British tourists who are now quarantined in Phnom Penh and Kampong Cham province.
