Cambodian PM Nominated New Agriculture Minister

Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, nominated Dith Tina, son of Supreme Court President, Dith Munty, for minister of agriculture, forestry and fisheries, local media reported yesterday.

Tina, who is currently a secretary of state at the Ministry of Mines and Energy, is expected to replace Veng Sakhon, who was sacked from the post on Saturday.

In a letter sent to National Assembly President, Samdech Heng Samrin, on Saturday, Hun Sen asked Samrin to convene an assembly session, in order to give a vote of confidence for Tina as the new minister.

The National Assembly will hold its permanent committee meeting on Oct 13, to examine the prime minister’s request, according to its statement yesterday.–
