Cambodian Senate President, Timor-Leste President Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate of Cambodia and visiting President of Timor-Leste H.E. José Manuel Ramos-Horta have discussed the relationship between the two countries. 

In a meeting here at the Senate Palace this afternoon, both sides spoke highly of the relations and cooperation between the two peoples and countries, and encouraged the two governments to further strengthen them, especially in the fields of trade, economy and investment. 

For his part, H.E. José Manuel Ramos-Horta expressed his gratitude to Cambodia for supporting Timor-Leste’s application for ASEAN membership.

He also welcomed the relationship between both nations’ legislative bodies, and invited the Cambodian senate president to visit Timor-Leste in an appropriate time in the near future.

Samdech Say Chhum accepted the invitation, affirming the Senate’s intention to build closer ties with its Timor-Leste counterpart in order to contribute to deepening both countries’ friendly relations and cooperation.
