Cambodia’s COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage Reaches Nearly 60%

Cambodia has vaccinated 5,912,545 people against the COVID-19 pandemic, or nearly 59.13 percent of the planned 10 million people to be inoculated, as of July 18.

The figures were shared by the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination, adding that of them, 4,131,057 have already got their second dose of COVID-19 vaccines.

Members of the diplomatic corps, staff of UN agencies and international organisations and their family members were among the vaccinated people.

Cambodia has set to vaccinate around 10 million people or 62 percent of the total population against COVID-19 and the target is expected to achieve by November this year.

Last Friday, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed the plan to vaccinate the children aged from 12 to 17 years old, who account for around 2 million.

The vaccination of younger citizens can be done after the end or at the same time as that of the 18 years and over, currently in progress, the Premier stressed, adding that the country thus needs 4 million more doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

Cambodia has so far got in total over 16 million doses of vaccines: 5.2 million doses of Sinopharm, 10.5 million doses of Sinovac, and 324,000 doses of AstraZeneca/SII (COVISHIELD).
