The government is conducting studies on investment situation, particularly in the existing special economic zones, aiming to develop investment policy to boost SEZs establishment along the border areas.
The plan was shared recently by H. E. Mr. Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), when leading the team to study the special economic zones in Bavet town, Svay Rieng province.
The development of the economic zones in Bavet town, said the CDC secretary general, is part of the government's endeavour to boost industrial development along border areas.
He continued that the result of the study will inform the improvement of the special economic zone in order to attract more investments.
Last month the study team visited the special economic zones in Poi Pet town of Banteay Meanchey province for the same purpose.
According to the Council for the Development of Cambodia, as of 2017, there are 44 special economic zones in Cambodia.
