Charter Flight from Australia to Cambodia Proposed

Charter flight from Australia to Cambodia has been proposed with an aim to attract more Australian tourists to the Kingdom.

The proposition was raised during a meeting held here on Mar. 4 between H.E. Mao Havannal, Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) and Australian Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Pablo Kang.

In the meeting, H.E. Pablo Kang asked for support and coordination from SSCA over the establishment of the charter flight to Cambodia.

The Australian ambassador said that the charter flight will bring on board 200 Australian tourists to visit Siem Reap province.

Visiting Siem Reap province, home to the famous Angkor temples, is one of the stops that the charter flight schedules in other countries in the region, H.E. Plabo Kang added.

However, the meeting did not mentioned about the charter flight's schedule.

It is a good news that we will receive Australian tourists flying directly to Cambodia from Australia. With this charter flight, we hope that more tourists will know about Cambodia and visit Cambodia, said H.E. Top Sopheak, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Tourism, underlining that the ministry has promoted tourism package in the market for years.

Last year, Cambodia received some 6.6 millions of foreign tourists, of them 123,253 were Australian, a year-on-year decrease of 3 percent.
