Chinese State Councilor Conclude Two-day Official Visit in Cambodia

H.E. Wang Yi, State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, this morning concluded his two-day official visit in Cambodia.

Upon his arrival in Phnom Penh on Sept. 12, H.E. Wang Yi met with H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation to discuss various aspects of bilateral cooperation such as the fight against COVID-19, trade and investment, education, security and national defence, as well as regional and international issues of common interest and concern.

In the afternoon of the same day, the Chinese state councilor joined Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to preside over the handover ceremony the China-funded Morodok Techo National Stadium in Sangkat Prek Tasek, Khan Chroy Changvar, Phnom Penh, which will be the centerpiece venue for Cambodia’s 2023 SEA Games.

After that, Samdech Techo Hun Sen and H.E. Wang Yi held a bilateral meeting and witnessed the signing ceremony of six important bilateral documents, including a grant aid of US$270 million. The Chinese side pledged to provide three million more doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Cambodia and to import more Cambodian agricultural produce.

This morning, H.E. Wang Yi had a working breakfast with Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hor Namhong, before leaving Cambodia for a working visit in Singapore.
