Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) has extended its deepest condolences over the loss of Briton “Luke” Atkinson and Australian Trent Lee, working for Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), in a recent tragic accident in Solomon Islands.
“We were extremely saddened by the news of the loss of Mr. Stephen ‘Luke’ Atkinson and Trent Lee in the Solomon Islands by recent fatal bomb blast,” said CMAA.
“On behalf of mine action family in Cambodia, we wish to convey our deepest condolences and sympathies to their families, relatives, and NPA – Mine Action and Disarmament,” it added.
“Luke and Trent gave their lives for the safety, security and a better livelihood for others. We will remain grateful to their extreme sacrifice. They are our heroes. May You both Rest In Peace!” CMAA underlined.
Stephen “Luke” Atkinson and Trent Lee were bomb specialists working for an overseas-funded project that maps unexploded bomb sites for later disposal by specialist police teams.
