COVID-19-Infected British Lady’s Health Is Stable

The health condition of the 65-year-old British woman who was diagnosed yesterday with COVID-19 is stable, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health Dr. Ly Sovann told AKP this afternoon.

She is now under special care from medical practitioners at Kampong Cham provincial referral hospital 24 hours a day.

The British lady is the third confirmed case in Cambodia announced here last evening at a press conference by Minister of Health H.E. Mam Bunheng, after she left Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on Mar. 5 and arrived in Phnom Penh on Mar. 7 by Viking Cruise Journey, after sitting next to a Vietnamese national, who was later detected with the deadly virus, on a flight from London to Hanoi.

Besides her, other 64 tourists and crewmembers of the Viking Cruise Journey have their specimens collected for medical test at the Pasteur Institute in Phnom Penh, while the British woman was visited this morning by Health Minister H.E. Mam Bunheng, Kampong Cham Provincial Governor H.E. Un Chanda, and WHO representatives.

The other two confirmed COVID-19 cases recorded in Cambodia are a 38-year-old Cambodian man who is now under quarantine at Siem Reap provincial referral hospital and whose health condition is good, and a 60-year-old Chinese tourist, who has been successfully cured and has returned to his home country.
