COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage in Cambodia Reaches Almost 70%

Cambodia has vaccinated 6,941,285 people against the COVID-19 pandemic, or 69.41 percent of the planned 10 million people for the vaccination, as of July 27.

The figures were shared by the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination, adding that of them, 4,586,979 have already got their second dose of COVID-19 vaccines.

Members of the diplomatic corps, staff of UN agencies and international organisations and their family members were among the vaccinated people.

With the current speed, Cambodia is expected to end the vaccination of the planned 10 million people or 62 percent of the total population before the end of August this year.

Besides, the Kingdom is going to kick off the vaccination campaign for children aged from 12 to 17, who account for around 2 million, on Aug. 1 in Phnom Penh capital city.

The goal of Cambodia is to vaccinate about 80 percent of the total population of 16 million. Recently, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has affirmed “at all costs, we will look for ways to find vaccines for all Cambodians reaching the age of vaccination and being allowed to get vaccinated by the medical team."

Cambodia has so far received nearly 18 million doses of vaccines through purchase and donations: 6.2 million doses of Sinopharm, 10.5 million doses of Sinovac, and 656,000 doses of AstraZeneca.
