China Railway Construction Corporation Limited (CRCC), a state-own construction enterprise based in Beijing and the world’s second largest construction and engineering company, has expressed its will to contribute to Cambodian infrastructure development.
A delegation of CRCC led by its Vice President Mr. Wang Wenzhong has been on a visit in Cambodia and was received here yesterday by Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol.
Mr. Wang Wenzhong affirmed that CRCC will increase its cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) in developing infrastructure in Cambodia.
According to a news release of MPWT, the purpose of the CRCC’s visit in Cambodia is to study the improvement project of existing railways – Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh-Poipet – and the monorail and subway projects in Phnom Penh to identify the most effective mode of transport that could reduce traffic congestion in this city.
H.E. Sun Chanthol welcomed the visit and requested the CRCC to study a 100-kilometre-long railway project linking Serei Sophorn in Banteay Meanchey province to Siem Reap province so as to enable tourists from Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore to visit Angkor Wat by train.
Mr. Wang took note of the minister’s request and suggested more detailed discussion with MPWT’s expert group to push ahead Cambodia’s northern and southern railway improvement project.
