Domestic Tourists Hit Almost 1 Million in Second Week of October

Domestic tourism record rose by 150.45 percent to 938,928 in the second week of October, from Oct. 10-16, of them 914,543 were national visitors and 24,385 were internal foreign visitors

The update was shown in the latest report by the Ministry of Tourism made public this afternoon, highlighting a positive sign for Cambodian tourism recovery.

Kampong Cham province was crowned No. 1 as the most popular tourism destination during the said period, followed by Preah Sihanouk, Battambang, Prey Veng, Pursat, Siem Reap, and Kampot provinces, the report added.

The Ministry of Tourism attributed the growth in the number of domestic visitors to the organisation of boat races by Kampong Cham, Prey Veng and Pursat provincial administrations, as well as to the launch, on a one-month-long trial basis, of Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway.
