H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will participate in the ASEAN-United Nations Ministerial Meeting (AUMM), to be held virtually on Oct. 21, 2020, along with other ASEAN Foreign Ministers, the UN Secretary-General and the President of the 75th Session of the UNGA.
The participation will be made at the invitation of H.E. Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, according to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The Meeting will review the ASEAN-UN Cooperation, including the implementation of the Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Partnership between ASEAN and the UN, it pointed out.
The meeting will also exchange views on how to further strengthen and expand ASEAN-UN cooperation in light of the global health crisis posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, it added.
It should be noted that the AUMM is a regular event on the margins of the UNGA. This year’s AUMM is expected to feature discussion on many regional and global issues reflecting the theme of the 75th Session of the UNGA “The future we want, the United Nations we need: reaffirming our collective commitment to multilateralism—confronting COVID-19 through effective multilateralism action”.
