Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng has met visiting UN Special Rapporteur Ms. Rhona Smith on the situation of human rights in Cambodia.
In the meeting taking place yesterday here in Phnom Penh, Ms. Rhona Smith touched on Cambodia’s rights-based interventions by non-governmental organisations in Cambodia, and the government’s one-window service and anti-drug effort.
She also spoke highly of the initiative of government and civil society organisation dialogue for joint discussion and resolutions for emerging development issues.
Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng told the UN special rapporteur that the civil society organisations have also been allowed to share their views for amendments of laws and other legal tools.
According to the deputy prime minister, the Royal Government of Cambodia has by far made possible the existence of over 100 one-window service offices across Cambodia to promote quality, efficiency and transparency of public service deliveries.
Ms. Rhona Smith expressed her appreciation of Cambodia’s latest progresses mentioned and encouraged the country to continue the great work.
