H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce and ASEAN Economic Minister for Cambodia, has attended a meeting to discuss a draft law on ASEAN-Hong Kong, China Free Trade Agreement (AHKFTA).
The meeting took place here in Phnom Penh recently with the participation of lawmakers from the 9th Commission of the National Assembly led by its President H.E. Mrs. Nin Saphon and the 5th Commission led by its President H.E. Chheang Vun.
H.E. Pas Sorasak briefed the participants on the draft law’s key contents and the benefits that Cambodia will receive when the agreement enters into force.
The minister underlined the ministry’s effort in boosting exports through market diversification including fostering free trade agreements with trading partners and entering new markets.
As a result, all participants agreed on the contents of agreement and decided to put it for next discussion in the upcoming ordinary meeting of the National Assembly.
AHKFTA will play a crucial role in connecting economy between ASEAN and the Hong Kong region of China through free trade liberalisation, customs procedures upgrading, economic and technical cooperation, trade and cross-border investments, and beyond.
