Embassy of India Organising “Iconic Week”

 

The Embassy of India in Cambodia inaugurated the Iconic Week celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) on Monday, according to its press release AKP received this evening.

The AKAM is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements, said the source, adding that as part of the celebration, the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh is organising the ‘Iconic week’ from Aug. 8-16 in Cambodia.

On the inaugural day of the iconic week, it pointed out, a food festival was organised in association with Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh, where renowned Master Chef Jhupa Singh flied from India to Cambodia to showcase northern Indian specialty at Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh.

The inaugural event on Aug. 8 was graced by H.E. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister and First Vice-President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority, H.E. Sry Thamarong, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, H.E. Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, senior officials from Cambodian Government, Ambassadors of Diplomatic Missions, renowned Cambodian chefs and guests from different walks of life.

The event commenced with the opening remarks by Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Ambassador of India, wherein she highlighted the shared heritage and culinary connections between India and Cambodia.

The guests experienced India’s unique food varieties and admired various cooking styles.

In honour of India’s 75th Anniversary of independence day, Hyatt Regency Phnom Penh has inaugurated ‘India week’ at their hotel, where different varieties of Indian cuisines and dishes will be served throughout the week.
