French Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh has pledged to encourage more French investors to invest in the Kingdom, especially at special economic zones.
The commitment was made yesterday during her visit to Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone in Preah Sihanouk province, at the invitation of H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary-General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
According to CDC, H.E. Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh lauded the development of Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone contributing significantly to the economic diversification of the country.
For his part, H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea briefed the French diplomat on the development of special economic zones in Cambodia on the initiative of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
Cambodia currently has 23 special economic zones in operation with 482 investment projects, employing over 130,000 workers and contributing 14 percent to Cambodia's total exports.
For Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, there are 181 development projects, generating more than 25,000 jobs for the locals.
Earlier on Nov. 5, H.E. Mrs. Eva Nguyen Binh also held talks with H.E. Kuoch Chamroeun, Governor of Preah Sihanouk province, during which the latter recalled the French support and investments in Cambodia, especially in his province.
