The Federal Republic of Germany will continue to strengthen its cooperation with the Kingdom of Cambodia in all sectors, particularly education, health and governance.
The commitment was underlined by newly appointed German Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Christian Berger while paying a courtesy call on Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly (NA), here at the NA Palace this morning, NA Spokesperson H.E. Keo Piseth told reporters after the meeting.
The new German diplomat noted the existing good relations between the two countries and affirmed the contribution of Germany, an EU member, to solving the EBA issue between the EU and Cambodia. He also encouraged the Royal Government of Cambodia to work closely with the EU.
For his part, Samdech Heng Samrin expressed warm welcome to H.E. Christian Berger and pledged to provide full cooperation for the success of his diplomatic mission.
Germany is the largest market for Cambodian products among the EU member countries and a key donor to Cambodia by funding more than 70 development projects so far, stressed the NA president.
Cambodia and Germany established their diplomatic ties in late 1967.
