Grab the Opportunity to Increase Performing Religious Acts with the Family At Home

The Minister of Religious Affairs repeated the call to the public to grab the opportunity to increase performing religious acts as well as acts of charity and welfare with the family at home.   In daily life affected by COVID-19 now, the public are urged to obey instructions from the authorities, in particular the Ministry of Health besides increasing performance of religious and charitable acts as well reciting the Istighfar and supplications to seek the forgiveness and blessings of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala as well as protection from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Yang Berhoarmat reminded that Muslims have strong iman or faith and are taught to accept disasters and mishaps as tests and trials from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’alaa.  It is a way to find out how people find solutions for such problems based on guidance of Al-Quran.  Verse 2 of Surah al-Ankabut that literally means, “Verily, do mankind think they would be let to simply say: “We have shown our faith” but they are not tested?  Muslims must always be patient and not be complacent in searching for solutions through efforts and doa or supplications.  In facing the pleasures and hardships in life, Muslims must seek guidance of Al-Quran such as the Verses 155-156 of Surah al-Baqarah that say, ” And verily, I (Allah) will certainly test you with some fear, hunger and lesser wealth, strength of soul and fruits (because I wish to see if you would be patient or not during the test).  And give glad tidings to the patient ones. (Verse 155).  “People who when disaster befalls on them, they say, “Verily, we belong to Allah, and to Allah we do return.”(Verse 156).  The tests from Allah include fear and hunger, and now COVID- 19 has placed us in fear.  Hunger in today’s context is related to the possibility of people losing their source of income.

The test also mentioned dwindling wealth.  In this regard it is the loss of income experienced by individuals and companies.  In this relation, the Minister at Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy mentioned recently that in the context of an institution, the government will experience some form of fiscal loss and be forced to increase expenditure.  Also in today’s context, COVID-19 is a disease that will certainly cause loss of life and loss in revenue from agriculture.   So all these require patient and strong faith.  The people should be united and obey instructions and guidelines given by the authorities and avoid making speculations that could affect the well-being because the faithful are those who believe in Allah, perform more religious acts, seek Allah’s pardon and repent and may Allah deliver us from the current problem.
