Cambodia is hosting this week, from Aug. 26 to 30, the 14th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting and Related Meetings in Siem Reap province.
Themed Accelerating Health for All in ASEAN, the 14th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting and Related Meetings will be officially opened on Aug. 29 under the presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, according to an announcement of the Cambodian Ministry of Health issued yesterday.
The Premier will deliver a keynote address and give some recommendations to the meetings, added the same source.
The participants, who are health ministers of the ten ASEAN members countries and their dialogue partners (China, Japan, Korea) will discuss key topics related to combating falsified and substandard medicines, ensuring financial sustainability for healthcare services, capacity building for implementation of the World Health Organisation (WHO)'s International Health Regulations, and innovation in strengthening healthcare services.
Cambodia's minister of health is currently a rotating chair of ASEAN health ministers for two years until 2020.
The 13th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting took place in Brunei Darussalam in September 2017.
