Japanese Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call on DPM Hor Namhong

Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Hor Namhong received here this morning Japanese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Mikami Masahiro.

On the occasion, H.E. Mikami Masahito spoke highly of peace and political stability in Cambodia, two key factors for the country’s economic growth and development in all domains.

The Japanese diplomat also appreciated Cambodia’s achievements in containing and preventing the COVID-19 pandemic under the direct leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

In reply, H.E. Hor Namhong thanked H.E. Ambassador for the fair and just evaluation of the role of Samdech Techo Prime Minister and the situation in Cambodia.

H.E. Deputy Prime Minister lauded the good friendship and cooperation between the two countries and expressed his gratitude to the Japanese government for its support and assistance to Cambodia, contributing to the development in all areas.

H.E. Hor Namhong recalled Japan’s financial support in grants and loans as well as its scholarships provided to Cambodian students and civil servants, its assistance for combating COVID-19 pandemic, and so on.

Cambodia and Japan established their diplomatic ties on Jan. 9, 1953, 10 months before Cambodia gained independence from France.
