Japanese Foreign Minister’s Message Before His Visit to Cambodia

Japanese Foreign Minister H.E. Motegi Toshimitsu has sent a message to the Cambodian people before his official visit to Cambodia from Aug. 21-23, 2020.

In his message this morning, H.E. Motegi Toshimitsu highlighted his delight to visit Cambodia, the existing cooperation between the two countries, and so on.

H.E. Motegi Toshimitsu said he has visited Cambodia several times before, but today is the first time as the foreign minister of Japan.

According to H.E. Motegi Toshimitsu, since 2014, the number of Japanese people in Cambodia increased more than double (2.2), from 1,793 to 3,934, and that of Japanese companies in Cambodia rose by 2.7, from 142 to 388; while that of Cambodian people in Japan augmented by 4.3, from 3,436 to 15,020.

H.E. Motegi Toshimitsu also mentioned about the COVID-19 transmission, and congratulated Cambodia on its efforts in containing and preventing against this deadly disease, while Japan has donated medical materials and equipment as well as technical support to Cambodia.

“We look forward to furthering the strategic partnership between the two countries by exchanging frank opinions with Prime Minister Hun Sen and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn,” the Japanese foreign minister underlined.
